Ms. Brishna Rabi’s Biography

Brishna Rabi is a symbol of hope and progress in Afghanistan and around the globe. Her journey towards greatness began with humble beginnings, shaped by the nurturing environment of Sultan Razia High School in Mazar-e-Sharif, where she laid the foundation of her educational journey. After finishing her schooling, she began her career as a teacher in one of Mazar-e-Sharif’s girls’ schools in the year 1986, marking the start of her commitment to empowering women through education. Her relentless pursuit of knowledge led her to Balkh University, where she graduated from the Science Faculty Department of Education, further enriching her intellectual abilities. Driven by a strong desire for excellence, she continued her academic journey, earning a master’s degree in International Laws and Affairs from Kabul Payam-e-Noor University.

Her illustrious career began with her diligent work and integrity. Her tireless advocacy for women’s rights and her exemplary work ethic earned her widespread acclaim, leading to her appointment as Principal at Roshana Balkhy High School. Through her visionary leadership, she transformed the institution into a center of knowledge and enlightenment, nurturing generations of bright minds.

Recognizing her outstanding contributions to education and societal development, Brishna Rabi was entrusted with the leadership of Fatima Balkhy High School, the pride of Balkh Province’s educational landscape. Her time at the school witnessed a renaissance in educational excellence as she worked to unlock the full potential of every student under her care.

After 25 years of public education, encouraged by the trust and support of her fellow citizens, Brishna Rabi answered the call to public service, beginning a new chapter in her career. In 2010, after running a successful campaign, she was elected as a Member of Parliament of Afghanistan, becoming a strong voice for the people of Balkh province, advocating for their causes with unmatched dedication. She served the country as an MP two terms (in batch 16 and 17) until August 15, 2021.

During her tenure as a Member of Parliament, she played a pivotal role in various capacities. She adeptly represented her constituents in the parliamentary chambers, effectively articulating the challenges faced by the province and actively seeking solutions to address them. Additionally, she diligently oversaw the enforcement of constitutional law and spearheaded the drafting and passing of new bills that were deemed necessary to meet the evolving needs of the populace.

Simultaneously, Brishna Rabi leveraged her position as an MP to implement numerous development projects aimed at benefitting the residents. These initiatives encompassed the construction of essential infrastructure such as clinics, roads, schools, and public institutions, as well as the installation of water pumps in rural areas to address water scarcity. Furthermore, she initiated literacy programs tailored specifically for women who had never received formal education and organized sewing courses to empower low-income women in supporting their families financially. Brishna Rabi also played a crucial role in advancing educational opportunities in the Chemtal and Balkh districts, facilitating the creation of thousands of job opportunities for youth and recent graduates, all while actively advocating for and defending human rights within society.

In collaboration with non-profit organizations, she contributed significantly to the capacity-building efforts aimed at empowering the youth in her community. Furthermore, she extended support to schools by providing them with much-needed equipment and resources, thereby enhancing the quality of education for students.

Remaining deeply connected to her community, Brishna Rabi consistently engaged with her constituents, participating in cultural and religious festivals, and standing in solidarity with them during both moments of celebration and hardship. Her unwavering dedication to serving people earned her widespread recognition, as evident by numerous awards, certificates, and letters of appreciation she received from various community groups, provincial organizations, and governmental bodies, acknowledging her honest and tireless service to society.

Despite facing challenges, including the dissolution of Parliament due to governmental changes and the rise of the Taliban, Brishna Rabi’s commitment to serving her community remains unwavering. Whether holding public office or not, she continues to provide assistance and support in any capacity possible, embodying the spirit of resilience and dedication that defines her character.

Hence, she established the Light of Hope Foundation for Education, Immigration and Resettlement in December of 2023 to continue her passion in serving those who need it. The Light of Hope Foundation is non-profit organization incorporate in Canada to provide vital services in areas of education, immigration and resettlement to vulnerable women and girls and their family to have hope this world.
